How to Soothe a Teething Baby: Tips for a Happier Little One

Written by Dr. Holly Nadji Jun 9 • 1 minute read

Teething can be a tough time for both babies and parents. As those tiny teeth begin to push through, your baby may experience sore gums, drooling, irritability, and trouble sleeping. But don’t worry—there are ways to help soothe their discomfort!

Gentle Ways to Ease Teething Pain:

1. Chill (But Don’t Freeze) Teething Toys
Cold helps numb the gums. Offer your baby a chilled teething ring or a cold, damp washcloth to chew on.

2. Gently Massage the Gums
Use a clean finger to rub your baby’s gums in slow, circular motions to relieve pressure.

3. Offer Safe Teething Snacks
If your baby is eating solids, try cold applesauce, yogurt, or soft fruit in a mesh feeder.

4. Keep Them Dry
Teething causes drooling—lots of it! Wipe their chin regularly to prevent skin irritation and rashes.

5. Cuddle and Comfort
Sometimes, your baby just needs extra love. A little rocking, snuggling, and soothing talk can go a long way.
