Oral cancer can affect any of the soft tissues in your mouth, including your tongue, lips, inner cheeks, throat, palate or floor of your mouth. Symptoms can include:
• Painless white or red patches or spots
• Irregular bumps in the mouth, neck or facial area
• Rough spots or spots of apparent erosion
• Unexplained oral bleeding that is not associated with gum disease or other dental health conditions
• Numbness, tenderness or increased sensitivity around the cheeks, facial area or inside the mouth
• Ear pain
• Chronic sore throat
• Unexplained weight loss
Any symptoms that do not resolve in two weeks should be evaluated further to identify the cause.
